Feature Project
Doubl-Kold Inc

Doubl-Kold Inc is a major industrial refrigeration company in Washington State, whose success to date is the result of innovative, excellent engineering, high quality workmanship, and a desire to be “the best” at treating its customers right. Doubl-Kold is one of the foremost designers and manufactures of high quality industrial refrigeration, for the fruit and food industries, and industrial refrigeration users throughout the world.
You would expect such a company to recognize craftsmanship in related trades and when building their new facility, to seek these out. We have long worked side-by-side with Doubl-Kold and were delighted to be their choice of HVAC mechanical contractor.
Let us show you some of the work we performed for them in the photos on the right. Beginning with one of the mechanical room.

Single Zone Gas & A/C
One of 10 systems installed, the photo to the right is typical of two system in the up-flow configuration. Utilizing high efficiency Carrier gas furnaces and air conditioners. The system includes a fully integrated fresh air economizer for free cooling during moderate to low outdoor ambient temperatures. Our typical special care was given to be sure of the following features.
- All fittings, ductwork and piping are plumb and true.
- Clean simple routing lines for ductwork & piping.
- Service access doors are clear of obstructions.
- Custom filters and filter access are installed.
- Service manuals are with the equipment.
- Top quality materials and products are used.
- The systems are clean and free of debris.
- Seams are matched, tight and clean.
- Ductwork is free of hammer tracks, dents & creases.
- Truly workman like craftsmanship is provided.

Clean Piping
Piping and wiring to these complex systems can easily become a cluttered mess similar to a birds nest, making service difficult and the presentation unprofessional. While we pride ourselves in making systems that truly work, we also let our pride show in the presentable, clean methods we use to route and install piping and wiring.
Note the LACK of the following.
- No excessive pipe dope.
- No PVC glue stains.
- No dangling wires.
- No grime, marks or dirt.
- No kinks, pinches or stretching of connections.

Sheet Metal Seams
All our seams are tight and well fitted with "best practices" used. Note these S-Hook drive-cleat seams. Excessive tabs were removed and corners clipped to ensure they would lay flat, not curling on the corners or gaping open. Screws and tape were not required to be sure the seams were good. No gaps or holes are to be found. Edges and seam are straight and true.

Zoning
Three of the office systems are horizontal with zoning applied to them. Here are six Carrier 3V Zone Dampers installed together. These provide six independent zones of control for heating and cooling the office spaces all from one high efficient gas furnace and air conditioner.
Note the clean open accessible manner of installation.
Pride In Our Work
We are proud to have been a part of the Doubl-Kold project. We think this shows in our workmanship. We hope you have noticed the care we take, not just get a job done right, but the extra step to make it look right as well. We gladly put our name on this product.
Special thanks to the men who worked hard to produce this kind of quality!
CANAM Exhaust System
Sunnyside Washington
The giant sand blaster is used for cleaning steel trusses before they are taken to be dip-painted. Huge bridge cranes trolley the trusses through the plant as they are assembled. When complete they end up here in preparation for painting.
Cyclone Exhaust
Just outside the sand blaster is a cyclone exhauster. This fan system acts like a giant vacuum cleaner to extract the debris from cleaning the trusses. The particles settle out through the funnel at the bottom to be disposed of. The clean air is then returned to the plant
Measuring the Exhaust Pipe
Russ Frenzel, our Installation Manager, takes the field measurements need to construct the 16" round exhaust system.
Custom Fittings
Some custom fittings made for the project.
Sealing the Exhaust
The seams are masked off before the sealant is applied. This kind of attention adds a small amount of time, but produces a product that is visibly cleaner. The sealant could be applied without the masking. If hidden from view this might be appropriate. When in clear view, like this system is, our quality shows.
Installing at CANAM
Doug and Wes show their skills installing the exhaust system.
The Stack
This 16" round, 16 gauge stack, is where the first three branches of the sand blaster group together. A 7" round goes in the top, then a 4" round on the side, then the main 12" round wyes into the side. The trunk routes down through the pit below the blaster and up the other side to gather in an additional 7" round and 4" round before heading out to the cyclone.
Good job guys!
Greg and Mark took the lead in the shop. Wes and Doug were on site at Canam. Russ orchestrated the project.
